There was chaos at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heaping in Plateau State yesterday when Arik Air sent a 70-passenger plane to convey over 140 passengers who had earlier booked tickets for Lagos.
One of the passengers at the airport told our correspondent that they had booked tickets for Sunday 1pm to Lagos and were surprised when Arik sent a plane that could only accommodate about 70 passengers.
The passenger said the small plane had landed at 1:15 pm but noted that passengers who were not given boarding pass had blocked the check-in, insisting no one would leave unless the airline was able to convey all the passengers.
By 3:43pm, our correspondent gathered that the passengers reached an agreement to allow all those with connecting international flights, women and children and the elderly to board the first flight while others waited for another plane which they claimed Arik official assured them would take off from Kaduna to Jos.
