The Director-General of the
Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Muhtar Usman, has called for
regular interactions between the regulatory authority and airline
operators in the country.
A statement issued on Sunday by the
NCAA General Manager, Public Relations, Mr Sam Adurogboye, said Usman
made the call at a meeting with the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON)
in Lagos.
The statement said that the meeting was primarily to
discuss various issues affecting the aviation industry and proffer ways
to build on the laudable gains so far.
It said that among the
issues deliberated upon at the meeting was the directive by the NCAA to
the airlines to meet the deadline to join the automation platform for
seamless remittance of five per cent ticket and cargo sales charge.
According
to the statement, the airline operators were also advised to take
advantage of the window of the Billing Settlement Plan (BSP), simulator
training, aircraft inspection and other services provided by the NCAA.
The
statement said that at the end of the meeting, the director general
thanked all present and reiterated that all airline operations must be
carried out within the ambit of the law.
It said that there was a
consensus that the meeting should be a monthly affair, to be held
precisely every last Wednesday of every month.
The statement said
that all the scheduled commercial airlines attended the meeting, led by
the AON Chairman, Capt. Nogie Meggison, while all NCAA Directors were
present.
