Medview has started direct flight
service from Lagos to Kano and Kano to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, on direct four (4)
hours on board time.
Medview lunched its flight to
Saudi Arabia from Murtala Mohammed International airport, Lagos. At the
recently lunched service Medview become the first Nigeria airline to start operating
from Nigeria to Saudi in which 36 passengers were lifted.
The airline started schedule domestic
flights from Lagos to Kano and Abuja and back, being part of strategy to mop up
passengers for the Jeddah service.
Lunching of the Jeddah service at
the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Medview Airline’s executive
director, Technical Services, Engineer Lookman Animashaun, representing the
managing director and CEO, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, said “the airline had worked
very hard to come up with the Lagos-Kano-Jeddah service to ensure that it comes
out very well.
With approval for four flights,
Animashaun said the airline is starting with two flights per week to Jeddah for
now and would add up the second lap as time goes’’.
“We are starting with Lagos-Kano
to Jeddah because these are the cities that we all know have large number of
Nigerians travelling to Saudi Arabia. We have been on it for some time now.
During the Hajj we commenced partially and we were able to move pilgrims to
perform their rites in Mecca. We also have approval to go to Abuja, but for now
we are starting with Lagos-Kano-Jeddah so we can be able to satisfy the
customers in these two cities first,” he stated.
The airline is using B737-800,
and plans to deploy B767-300ER, a larger aircraft as more passengers hook up to
the service.
On the Jeddah route, Medview has
only Saudi Air as competitor, Saudi Air only operates from Kano.
Animashaun said even though
Medview is the only airline that is now doing scheduled flights to Jeddah, it
is not unaware of competition, as other international airlines do run broken
flights to Saudi Arabia from Nigeria. Hence, it has deliberately orchestrated
the service to draw massive competitive advantage.
