The publisher of Aviation Safety magazine, Alhaji Abdulyekeen Umar,
has cautioned workers in the aviation industry; especially the Federal
Airports Authority of Nigeria staffs to exercise restraint in
criticising the activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC), investigating the alleged N70 million furniture scam
in the organisation.
Umar who made this call while commenting on
the implications of “pull him down syndrome” in the system especially in
FAAN over the alleged struggle by some top management staff to replace
the current managing director warned that such actions were capable of
bringing down the organisation.
According to Umar, “There is too
much scheming in FAAN which is not in the interest of the organisation.
FAAN must be allowed to grow. People should not drag others into the mud
because they are getting drown. Name calling and threatening people
with EFCC should be stopped, they should be allowed to do their job.”
Umar
further called on aviation unions in the industry to rise up to the
occasion by not taking sides, do the needful and fight for the workers’
welfare in order to save the organisation from collapse.
The
publisher explained that all those involved in the N70m furniture scam,
no matter their positions must be allowed to face the music.
He,
however, warned that those that are not involved should not be brought
into the matter as such witch-hunt was capable of crumbling the system.
The
stakeholder noted that no reasonable Nigerian will not support the
drive against corruption by the president, stressing such vices must be
dealt with to liberate the country.
“We are tired of corruption in this country and every reasonable Nigerian will no support corruption”, he noted.
