The
order came in-line with the recent incident in recent weeks involving
ground clash of aircraft by international and local airlines, mid air
aborted flights, and the crash of a Bristow helicopter in Lagos claiming
six lives and also the incident that took lives of six oil workers,
this has make the Government to look into the issue and has ordered the
audit of airlines in Nigeria.
The Government has sent out a serious warning to all pilots to take safety measure during unfavourable weather conditions.
Rumour
has it that recent incident and accidents are act of sabotage by some
persons to tarnish and spoil the new Government image before its citizen
and international level; this has pose a serious concern for the
government, and for which an extensive audit could help plug likely flaw
in airlines and the industry utilize by such persons.
Capt.
Muhtar Usman, the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation
Authority (NCAA) said “directed an immediate commencement of a
comprehensive audit of all the airlines operating in the country. “This
directive was to forestall complacency among the airline operators and
ensure that they all continue to demonstrate absolute compliance to
NCAA’s regulations,” Usman said in a statement to journal list in
Lagos.
