International travel document requirements
Passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of intended travel. Please make sure that you are in possession of all required travel documents with the appropriate entry visas, including any vaccination certificates that may be required. Additionally, many countries require proof of return/onward travel and proof of sufficient funds to support you during your overseas stay.If you are travelling with children you may be required to present proof of their ages at the airport. Unfortunately, many countries no longer accept hospital-issued birth certificates as acceptable documentation, so you may be required to present government-issued picture ID such as a passport.
New regulations for travellers to the USA
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires you to provide your full name, date of birth, and gender for the purpose of watch list screening, under the authority of 49 U.S.C. section 114, the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 and 49 C.F.R parts 1540 and 1560. You may also provide your Redress Number, if available.Failure to provide your full name, date of birth, and gender may result in denial of transport or denial of authority to enter the boarding area. TSA may share information you provide with law enforcement or intelligence agencies or others under its published system of records notice. Visa requirements for travel to the USA
Passengers travelling to the USA on passports issued by one of the Visa Waiver Program Countries are advised that they must apply for an ‘Authorisation To Travel’ prior to travelling. To comply with Nigerian immigration regulations, from 1st January 2011 only the new format Nigerian biometric, e-passport will be valid for international travel.In order to avoid unnecessary delays or problems on departure, the following is advised:
Passengers holding old style Nigerian passports containing valid United Kingdom residence endorsements should have these transferred into the new e-passport prior to travel from UK (please note that a Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode is only valid for presentation during the validity of the passport in which is contained). Passengers having dual nationality i.e. who hold United Kingdom and Nigerian passports, are advised to carry both for return travel to the United Kingdom.
All children i.e. those under 18 years, should hold their own Nigerian e-passport, containing a valid visa, residence permit, Certificate of Entitlement of the Right of Abode, and/or valid United Kingdom passport, as appropriate.
