RwandAir,
the national flag carrier of the Republic of Rwanda, has bagged
International Air Transport Association’s Safety Audit for Ground
Operations (ISAGO).
The certification follows an audit conducted on RwandAir Ground
Operations in July this year by Wake QA, an IATA approved Audit
Organisation. The audit was concluded with minimal findings and
observations. ISAGO registry is valid for two years.
ISAGO is an IATA standardised and structured audit programme for
Ground Service Providers that was modeled on the success of IATA
Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). The audit uses internationally
recognized ground operational standards that are aimed at reducing risk
and cost as well as minimising damages and incidents.
The Chief Executive Officer of RwandAir, John Mirenge, said that with the achievement, “RwandAir will provide enhanced ground-handling services with high safety standards to its customer airlines and private jets operating at Kigali International Airport, while maximizing productivity.”
He added that the feat would not have been possible without the dedicated, tireless, hard work of the RwandAir staff.
“The pursuit of the ISAGO certification, in addition to the existing
IOSA certification, confirms RwandAir’s commitment to the industry best
practices in operational safety to aworld class level,” he said.
