When is Hajj 2014?


Kaaba Mecca Saudi ArabiaAs per the estimates of the Fiqh Council of North America, Hajj 2014 will fall between October 1 and October 6, insha-Allaah.

The Hajj takes place from the 8th to the 12th of Zul-Hijjah which is the last month of the Hijri calendar.
 
The Islamic or Hijri Calendar is a lunar calendar based on moon sightings.

The actual advent of each month depends upon the physical sighting of the new moon. The corresponding Gregorian dates are estimates based upon astronomical calculations,

endorsed by the Fiqh Council of North America. The Gregorian dates for Hajj change from year to year.

The Islamic day begins at sunset.
The days of Hajj 2014 are estimated to be as follows:

Yaumut Tarwiyah 8th Zul-Hijjah Begins: Sunset, Oct 1 Ends: Sunset, Oct 2
Yaumul Wuquf 9th Zul-Hijjah Begins: Sunset, Oct 2 Ends: Sunset, Oct 3
Yaumun Nahr 10th Zul-Hijjah Begins: Sunset, Oct 3 Ends: Sunset, Oct 4
Ayyamut Tashriq 11th-12th Zul-Hijjah Begins: Sunset, Oct 4 Ends: Sunset, Oct 6
