UN trains 35 AVSEC officers on counter-terrorism

No fewer than 35 Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers have completed training in counter-terrorism, to enhance safety of lives and properties at airports nationwide.
The four-month ‘train the trainer course 19’ exercise was organised by Redline Assured Security, United Kingdom, in partnership with the United Nations.

One of its aviation and travels conglomerate, Peacock Aviation Services, has been appointed as its general sales agent for its operations in Nigeria.According to a joint statement by Fly Mid Africa and Peacock Aviation.

Ethiopian Airlines resumes on Singapore route

Ethiopian Airlines has concluded plans to resume flight services on Singapore route, beginning from June 1, 2017.
The operation, using its ultra-modern Boeing 787, is enhanced by partnership with Singapore Tourism Board (STB), to boost traffic and sustain the airline’s operations.

Local passenger traffic drops by 30% in Q1

An executive summary on international and domestic flight operations for the First Quarter (Q1) released by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) showed a total of 10,366 flights operated compared to 15,434 flights operated in 2016.

Passenger traffic on the local route in Nigeria recorded at least 30 per cent drop in the first quarter of 2017.The significant plunge, compared to the same period in 2016, has been blamed on the recent temporary closure of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja and operational challenges by some airlines.

Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the license of an aircrew member as the sanction for use of ban substance.

The yet unidentified crewmember tested positive to psychoactive substance, Tetrahydro–Cannabinol (Marijuana) and was immediately suspended from carrying out further flight operations.
