Dubai visa rules – What you need to know

We know you must have been hearing about the new Dubai visa rules for Nigerians wishing to visit the U.A.E.

Of course, the story was carried by the popular Nigerian blog, Linda Ikeji and many other news sites practically picked the story from there. Our readers and followers on our social media platforms have been sending messages and emails to confirm this news.

How True?

Yes, Dubai immigration has a new rule as regards visa application. Visa will now be issued to applicants who are 40 years of age and above. In addition, applicants below 30 years will have their applications accompanied by someone above 40 years, having same surname; and they will be issued what is now called Service Visas.

Is this a new rule?

No. Dubai had an age limit for applicants way before – 21 years old for men and 23 years old for women. So you might be saying “I’ve been to Dubai several times and I was below the age limit”. This simply means your agent processed your visa as an underage and another application was made for someone to accompany you. You apparently don’t have these details.

So what next for applicants?

Travel agents will continue to process the 14 days, 30 days and 90 days visa. This means applicants will pay for two visa applications. If you cannot provide someone to accompany you, then provisions will be made for that
