Lufthansa releases “sneak preview” of B777-9 business class seat

Lufthansa has published a rendering of the new business class seat which will debut on its B777-9 aircraft from 2020.

According to a post on the carrier’s official media relations Twitter page, the new seat will offer more privacy, “a special shoulder zone for side sleepers”, as well as larger monitors, and aisle access for all passengers.

Lufthansa has 20 of the next-generation Boeing aircraft scheduled for delivery between 2020 and 2025.

Etihad switches to all-Boeing 787 on Swiss route

Etihad Airways’ flights to and from Switzerland will become an all-Boeing 787 Dreamliner operation effective March 25, 2018.
The state-of-the-art flights connecting Abu Dhabi and Geneva will complement the airline’s existing 787 Dreamliner scheduled services connecting Abu Dhabi and Zurich, becoming the fifth European city to be served by the carrier’s rapidly growing fleet of next generation aircraft.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has called for bold actions to improve connectivity, market access, and cost reduction in Africa’s aviation sector.
AfDB’s Vice-President for Private Sector, Infrastructure and Industrialization, Pierre Guislain, made this call at the third ICAO World Aviation Forum in Abuja.

Operators kick over 20-plane per airline, merger calls

Airline operators have kicked over the proposal to benchmark the minimum planes a local airline should have in its fleet to 20. The operators, apparently miffed by the call made by Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ASRTI), described it as “mere talks” that does not correspond to the economies of the aviation industry.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for global air freight markets in September 2017 showing that demand, measured in Freight Tonne Kilometers (FTKs), rose 9.2 per cent compared to the same month in 2016.
