Aviation data analytics firm OAG, a global air travel intelligence company has published information on the world’s most-connected airports.
Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport (ATL) is the world’s largest Megahhub
This was measured by the ratio of scheduled connections to the number of destinations served by the airport.
Taking their influence into account and
looking at scheduled connections alongside destinations reached, OAG
finds that 22 of the world’s top 50 Megahubs are in the US. Of these US
airports, eight are in the top ten alone.

The report shows that the world’s number
one Megahub is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport which
is also the world’s busiest airport. Chicago O’Hare International takes
second place while in third position comes Dallas/Fort Worth
International.
Most-Connected Airport
London Heathrow surprisingly doesn’t
make the top global ten but, instead, is placed 13th. It does, however,
take the number one most-connected European airport slot, ahead of
Istanbul Atatürk, Frankfurt, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam
Airport Schiphol.
